ब्रह्मलोक

Kalpa heaven 5, where the longest life runs to 10 sāgaropama.

The 5th of the twelve kalpa heavens. Its gods live at most 10 sāgaropama, it holds 4,00,000 vimānas, and its Indra is Brahma.

Satisfaction comes from the sight of a goddess, and no contact occurs. The scheme is called pravīcāra, and it is the real measure of these tiers: as you rise, the mode of satisfaction grows thinner, until above Acyuta it stops altogether and the The nine Graiveyaka gods have none at all.

Digambara texts count this tier as two, Brahma and Brahmottara. That split, applied to four tiers in all, is how they reach sixteen kalpas where Śvetāmbara texts count twelve. See twelve or sixteen.

The nine Lokāntika gods live at the edge of this kalpa. They take no part in anything except one duty: when a Tīrthaṅkara is ready to renounce the world, they come and say so. They are called the deva-ṛṣis, the god-sages, and they are reborn as humans and liberated after a single further birth.
