The fungi
भूमिफोड़ा
Mushrooms and every fungus - bhūmi-ruha, what grows from the ground, bhūmiphoḍā, what bursts from it - are refused: a body with no seed, no vein and no node, up in a night.
The verses have one word for all of it; the Jīvavicāra has three, paṇaga, sevāla, bhūmiphoḍā, mould, moss and mushroom. Modern usage adds yeast, on the reasoning that it is a fungus, and refuses leavened bread on that account. It is the one tile on the view that is not a plant at all, and the marks fit it better than any plant: every one of the six is present.
