A day and night
Ahorātra
अहोरात्र
Thirty muhūrta. The last unit that anyone experiences directly.
Below it the units get too short to notice, above it too long to live through. It is worth remembering how a day is produced here: not by a spinning earth but by two suns circling Meru, each taking half the circuit, so that between them they make one day and one night. See Suns and moons.
Fifteen days make a pakṣa, two pakṣa a month, twelve months a year.
