Samayas 3, 4 and 5 · nothing taken in
Anāhāraka
अनाहारक
For three samayas of the eight, the omniscient takes in no matter at all: the soul is working through the karmic body alone, and the karmic body does not eat.
Every embodied soul takes in the matter its bodies are made of, samaya by samaya; the exceptions the texts list are the soul between births on a bent path, the soul in the third, fourth and fifth samaya of the kevali-samudghāta, the śaileśī, and the siddha. Here it is because the gross body is out of use: in the churn, the full universe and the churn again, only the kārmaṇa yoga is at work.
It is a small fact with a large shape behind it: the moment the soul is largest is the moment it is taking nothing.
