Right belief, no vows. Held for antarmuhūrta at the least, 33 sāgaropama and a human life at the most.

Right belief without self-control: the soul sees truly and has not yet vowed. Belief-delusion, the darśana-mohanīya, is subdued or destroyed here, and this is where both ladders' work on it begins.

It can be held for an antarmuhūrta or for thirty-three sāgaropama and a human life — the longest of any rung but the first. A soul can fall from it, and if it falls it passes through the second.
