Two suns and two moons circle Meru — and time itself is defined by their walking.
Everything that shines lives in a band of sky just 110 yojana thick: stars at 790, the sun at 800, the moon above the sun at 880, planets to Saturn at the ceiling of 900. Jambūdvīpa has two suns serving alternate days, and the year is the sun pacing 184 lanes of a corridor half a per-cent of the world wide. The moon is the Indra of the whole court, each light is carried by thousands of gods in beast-form — and beyond Mānuṣottara the same lights stand still forever, where no day can be counted. Follows the Śvetāmbara reckoning throughout.
