Mohanīya

Twenty-eight sub-types in two families: three of darśana-mohanīya, which delude belief, and twenty-five of cāritra-mohanīya, which delude conduct — the sixteen passions and nine quasi-passions.

It is the karma the ladder is about. Belief-delusion is subdued or destroyed at the fourth rung; conduct-delusion is thinned from the eighth to the tenth, suppressed at the eleventh — from which the soul must fall — or destroyed at the twelfth, from which it cannot.

Seventy koṭākoṭi sāgaropama at the longest: more than twice any other. The tradition ranks it the king of the eight.
