The knowledge-obscuring karma: 5 sub-types, bound for an antarmuhūrta at the least and 30 koṭākoṭi sāgaropama at the most.
Five sub-types, one for each of the five kinds of knowledge it can cover: sensory, scriptural, clairvoyant, telepathic and omniscient. It never covers knowledge completely; a soul with no knowledge at all would not be a soul.
It ends, with darśanāvaraṇa and antarāya, at the close of the twelfth guṇasthāna, and its ending is what omniscience is.
