Gautamadvīpa

गौतमद्वीप

An island 12,000 yojana west of Jambūdvīpa in the salt sea, the abode of Susthita, lord of the whole ocean.

West of Jambūdvīpa, 12,000 yojana out into Lavaṇa, lies Gautamadvīpa, where Susthita lives — the god who is lord of the salt sea. Hemacandra places it beside the islands of the suns and moons that stand at the same distance.

How large the island is, the sources reached do not say.
