The salt sea · its lord
Susthita
सुस्थित
The god who is lord of the salt sea, living on Gautamadvīpa in its western waters.
Every great ocean of the middle world has a lord, and Lavaṇoda's is Susthita. He lives on Gautamadvīpa, 12,000 yojana west of Jambūdvīpa, and the Velandhara who hold the water, and the Indras on the eight mountains, are his.
He appears in the histories when a Cakravartin comes to the shore: it is Susthita who is won over, with the sea, when the conquest reaches the coast.
