Duḥṣamā
दुःषमा
Sorrow. The age we are living in.
We are here. Roughly two and a half thousand years in, with some eighteen and a half thousand still to run.
No Tīrthaṅkara is born in this age and no one attains liberation directly from Bharat Kṣetra during it. The teaching survives — monks, nuns, laity and texts all continue — but it is transmitted rather than newly revealed. The tradition holds that Duḥpasahasūri will be the last monk of this age.
This is the age in which people in Bharat Kṣetra turn toward Sīmandhar Svāmī, who is alive in Mahāvideha Kṣetra and teaching now.
