Kākandī

काकन्दी

Suvidhinātha's city, in what is now Bihar, east of Rājagṛha.

By Hemacandra's reckoning, as the atlas carries it, Suvidhinātha was born here. Kakan in Lakhisarai district is the tradition's Kākandī. There is little beyond the tradition to fix it, and the entry says so.

The dot on the map is Kakan, Lakhisarai district, Bihar; the identification is the pilgrimage tradition's. Every site in this chapter is graded the same way, and the section says why.
