Vaitāḍhya
A silver mountain running clean across Bharat from sea to sea, splitting it into a northern half and a southern half.
Also called Vijayārdha, the half-victory, because a king who holds only one side of it holds only half the region. It is 50 yojana wide, 25 yojana high, buried 6¼ yojana in the earth, and made of silver slabs from foot to crest.
Two rows of cities are cut into its flanks, ten yojana up: sixty on the southern face and fifty on the northern, home to the vidyādharas. Ten yojana higher again are the terraces of the Ābhiyogika gods. Nine peaks stand along the crest, and the first of them carries a permanent shrine.
Two tunnels pierce it end to end, Tamisrā and Khaṇḍaprapātā. They are shut, and only a cakravartī can open them.
Every The 32 Vijayas of Mahāvideha has a Vaitāḍhya of its own, and so does Airāvat Kṣetra. The one in Bharat is simply the one we are on.
