Mahāvīra
The last Tīrthaṅkara of our half-cycle: seven hāth tall, seventy-two years, and the whole Samavasaraṇa section of this atlas describes his assembly.
Vardhamāna, called Mahāvīra, born in Kṣatriyakuṇḍa of Siddhārtha and Triśalā. Beside Ṛṣabha's 500 dhanuṣ and 84 lakh pūrva, his figures read like a rounding error — 7 hāth, 72 years, 250 years after Pārśva — and that contrast is the entire argument of the Descent: the same office, held at every scale the wheel passes through.
He reached mokṣa at Pāvāpurī three years and eight and a half months before the fifth ara began — the join between his life and the age we live in is measured to the half-month.
No Tīrthaṅkara follows him in this half-cycle. The next, Padmanābha, belongs to the rising half of the wheel; the teaching meanwhile continues in Mahāvideha, where Sīmandhara preaches now.
