Two of the twenty-four were born here, Malli and Nami, in the country of Janaka and Sītā.
By Hemacandra's reckoning, as the atlas carries it, Mallinātha and Naminātha were born here. Which town is Mithilā is argued: the Śvetāmbara tīrtha is at Sītāmaṛhī in Bihar, the Digambara at Janakpur in Nepal, and both are in the old Mithilā country rather than at a found city. The dot marks the Śvetāmbara tīrtha.
