Where liberated souls rest

Siddhaśilā

सिद्धशिला

A crescent of white crystal at the crown of the universe. Souls that reach it never move again.

A soul freed of karma rises, because rising is what a soul does when nothing weighs it down. It travels straight up until it reaches the edge of occupied space, and there it stops, because beyond that edge there is no medium of motion.

The slab is 45,00,000 yojana across, exactly the width of Aḍhāī-dvīpa below it. This is not decorative. Liberation happens only from the human realm, so the ceiling is the same size as the floor.

It is shaped like an upturned umbrella, eight yojana thick at the centre and thinning to the edge. The siddhas resting just above it have no body, no name, no location relative to each other, and no further history.
